What We Do
U Factor is a website for young carers to stay in contact and share information about their experiences, and will help to communicate and understand the needs of young people who are carers in the Brisbane South region.

U Factor enables young carers to communicate with their peers and Young Carers Project (Brisbane South) workers, and allows young people who are U Factor members to access a moderated forum where members can keep in contact, share information, and access support.

U Factor is managed and maintained by Young Carers Project (Brisbane South) workers who support young people (under the age of 25) to continue studying while maintaining their caring responsibilities. The support provided by Young Carers Project is free and is based on the needs of the young person.

For example, some of the kinds of support young people who are carers have found useful are: -
  • assistance with housework, cooking and cleaning
  • assistance with education and training (e.g. tuition if you are falling behind in school)
  • help to have time off to relax
  • fun activities with other young people who also have caring responsibilities
  • counselling
  • advocacy
  • linking with appropriate services.
U Factor is a great way to contact Young Carers Project workers who can give you further information about Young Carers Project (Brisbane South), and how we can assist young people who have caring responsibilities, and anyone who may know a young carer.
